Every great story has a beginning, and ours starts with one very special donkey named Ned.
When we first brought Ned home, he was just three years old — the first equine to set hoof on our property. He was originally purchased for packing and hunting, but it didn’t take long for his big personality to shine through. What was supposed to be a working partnership quickly turned into a deep friendship. Ned had a way of winning hearts, one nuzzle and bray at a time.
The Birth of Burrotender
In 2019, Ned received an unexpected invitation — his first wedding. With flowers in his mane and his signature curious grin, he stole the show (and the cocktail hour). That one event sparked something special, and before we knew it, the idea for Burrotender was born.
Since that day, Ned and our team have brought smiles (and drinks!) to over 50 weddings and events across the Yampa Valley. Whether it’s serving canned beverages or posing for photos, Ned knows exactly how to make every moment memorable.
A Donkey With Tricks and Heart
Ned isn’t just charming — he’s downright talented. He can lay down, spin, stand on a stool, shake, and even smile on cue. Every day he learns something new, and every guest he meets becomes part of his growing fan club.
But what truly makes Ned special is his heart. His loyalty, friendliness, and willingness to learn have inspired us to expand our herd to four donkeys, with plans for a future breeding program so that more people can experience just how extraordinary these animals are.
